a grizzly scene on my electron beam told a story about human rights, so all of king's horses and all of king's men had a riot for two days and nights well, the city exploded but the gates wouldn't open so the company asked him to quit now everybody's equal just don't measure it
well hanson did it to hester and mark david did it to john and maybe jack did it to marilyn but he did it to south vietnam for beauty and glory for money, love and country everybody's doing it, don't do that to me
a bitter debate and a feminine fate lie in tandem like two precious babes while the former gets warmer it's the latter that matters except on the nation's airwaves and custodians of public opinion stayed back after vainly discussing her rights lay hands off her body it's not your fucking life
now I don't know what stopped Jesus Christ from turning every hungry stone into bread and I don't remember hearing how Moses reacted when the innocent first born sons lay dead well I guess God was a lot more demonstrative back when he flamboyantly parted the sea, now everybody's praying, don't prey on me

If anyone ever needs to be reminded of how alcohol deteriorates your brain, visit the Harbor Hut bar. "You've got rhythm man... you sound like- a little colored boy drumming." (said to a white guy drumming unintelligibly on the bar) "Don't drink and drive, you might spill your beer! Harty harty har (i'm a fucking asshole) har."

FROM THE ROAD WITH BUILT TO SPILL Julie Muncy of Warner Bros. Records recently caught up with Doug Martsch to confirm rumors surrounding Built To Spill and a possible new album. Here's her full report...
_____
"Early Spring 2005
There is rumor. There are questions. More rumor and more questions! And so much chatter about the possibility of new Built To Spill music... Could it be?
We couldn't take it ourselves! The curiosity was killing us.
I immediately volunteered for the fact finding mission. It is true. All true. I went straight to the source: Doug Martsch.
Doug and the rest of the band answered our inquiry...
Current band line up: Doug Martsch Scott Plouf Brett Nelson Jim Roth
Producers? The band, and “Steve + Jake”
Guests? Sam Coombs on piano Steve on vibes, percussion and more
New album? They are currently “mixing” songs for the new album. This “mixing” includes spending long days in the studio: 12+hours, each band member adding his thoughts to the fine tuning of the music, some basketball, many cups of coffee and the more-than-occasional game of Bounty Hunter. (They kick ass!!)
Album release? Fall 2005 Mike Scheer is currently working on the art/design.
Tour? May - East Coast and Midwest June + July - West Coast
And the grand finale... MUSIC. I heard music!!!
“Traces,” “Liar,” and “Conventional Wisdom” are the three songs I heard bits + pieces of. (Not sure if those are the “official” titles but that's what they're calling 'em) The band said that these are the “pop-y” songs and most of the album is filled with “rockers.” For those that saw the band play All Tomorrow's Party this year, you heard all of these. Nearly the whole set was new songs. In a nutshell, these songs sound like everything you would want them to: “Velvet Waltz,” “Else” with a bit of “Big Dipper.” Classic Built To Spill. The one song I heard in its entirety: “Traces”. It starts out with 3 or 4 minutes of pop song and turns into a sweeping jam that lasts for just as long. The Scott + Brett drum/bass partnership provides the ultimate foundation for Doug + Jim's guitars to soar in the second half of the song.
Can't wait to hear the rest.
There you have it…enough info to soothe those burning questions.

i changed my mind. i was going to go but... no. "half the community's going." "L needs support." what stupid reasons these are that fooled and persuaded me for that period of irrationality. what community? do you mean the population? half of los osos population isn't going to fit in that place. and L didn't tell me anything about needing support, you did. who the hell started this pattern of knowing what's best for so-and-so? it's not our duty to attend a memorial for someone that we spoke to once in their lifetime. people are annoying and imposing. i'm not going to be people

L.A. will be red, white, and green again, un metropoli mexicano.
The world's gonna turn upside down and it'll sure look better that way.
Our Holy Mother will walk down these streets speaking to her children in Spanish.
The flowers themselves will sing in Spanish.
And we're gonna laugh till it hurts.
This time, El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles del Rio de Porciuncula will be Mexicanos for keeps.

Seriously, what even separates us from the animals? Is it our ability to reason? No; there's no way we could prove that a gorilla can't reason. If a baby gorilla can't hear his mom's heart beating, he'll reason that she's dead, and he'll mourn. I think that it is our inability to admit our capitulation to nature. think about it man, when they anticipate the icy chill of winter, birds will fly south to escape and survive. humans will buy scarves and if they really want to feign that they're in control, they'll stack sandbags around their property in order to stop any flooding. we continue living in tornado alley, building homes on eroding cliff sides, and on hills that will turn to mud during a heavy storm. there's always going to be a village idiot who gets stuck on the top of his pick-up truck while trying to negotiate a five-foot deep lagoon in his front yard.

candice, i went a'hunting for the answers to our questions after watching The Ring and mostly found speculations. most people think that Samara was not "adopted" but the work of some witchcraft or devil worshiping. one person said that since Richard was a horse breeder, and Anna couldn't conceive, he put a fertilized embryo in a horse and the horse birthed the child. it sounds pretty far-fetched, so my money is on the devil worship.
and with the birth certificate, in some U.S. states foster parents can alter the birth certificate of their adopted child. however, no one could explain the actual footprints on the b.c. pretty interesting, huh? let's ask greg gorrindo what he thinks...

there's a time and place for every green day song in my life. CHURCH ON SUNDAY Today is the first day of the rest of our lives tomorrow is too late to pretend everything's all right I'm not getting any younger as long as you don't get any older I'm not going to state that yesterday never was
Bloodshot deadbeat and lack of sleep Making your mascara bleed tears down your face leaving traces of my mistakes
If I promise to go to church on Sunday will you go with me on Friday night? If you live with me, I'll die for you and this compromise
I hereby solemnly swear to tell the whole truth And nothing but the truth is what I'll ever hear from you "trust" is a dirty word that comes only from such a liar but "respect" is something I will earn... If you have faith

it's been quite sometime since i've been on this thing, and reading my old entries just blew me away-- was i really that serious and lame?! so from now on, i won't be bogged down by that emo atmosphere that accompanies these online journals so often.
santa cruz may be the place for me to spend my days starting in 2006. it's such an awesome place and all that walking would get me physically fit, and education's good too. katy and ben are very cool people too, so that alone is reason enough for me to go.
